Deb and Joker 2008 Master National Finalist

Joker, Deb and Flint. Master Hunter Titles at
Monterey Bay HRC 2/17/08
Both dogs Qualify for 2008 Master National
Hunt Test History
I have had the good fortune to have Labradors that were multi-purpose from the start. After finishing several champions in the show ring I started working them in the field. I became involved in a local WC, and started participating at Junior level with the dogs. After many titles for Junior Hunters I decided to try my hand at learning to train at a more advanced level. I found a professional trainer (WARCON) who had a program I could follow. I learned his methods by taking lessons and participating in his training classes.
In the year 2000 I was able to handle and train my first Master Hunter. CH. Bayside’s Mark West MH, “Martin” is listed as #22 on the High Performance List as a Champion Master Hunter. See Champion Master Hunters Listing
Although we qualified for the Master National that year, we did not attend.
Martin's daughter, Bayside’s Whirlwind MH, “Twister” completed a Master Hunter Title in just 6 hunt tests at the tender age of 3 years. This time we attended the Master National 2002, her 8th Master hunt test ever! “Twister” and I became one of only 58 finalists out of nearly 300 Master Hunting Retrievers entered. She also was one of the few bench dogs attending to pass. “Twister again qualified for the 2003 Master National. This second home-bred Master Hunter, of all bench breeding continues to inspire me of obtaining my breeding goals and objectives of multi talented Labrador Retrievers performing in a variety of phases.

In 2003, Bayside Labradors moved in a new direction with the purchase of our first field trial/hunt test bred Labrador Retriever from Sawtooth Retrievers in Idaho. At age 3 years, “JOKER” (Sawtooth’s No Foolin) has fulfilled Debra’s wish for yet another Master Hunter National Qualifying contender and sparked her interest in running AKC Field Trials. Joker makes the third Master National qualified Labrador Retriever that Debra has trained and handled to this level. “Joker” is currently running AAQ and teaching Debra yet another level of competitive field trial training. (recent wins/awards are posted under working trial results on Joker's page)

Joker earns Master Hunter Title
Our success with Joker encouraged us to acquire another field trial bred dog in 2004 from Moonstone Retrievers in Montana. “FLINT” (Moonstones Ignites on Impact), is competing in the hunt tests as well as AKC field trials. Flint placed second in the Derby in his and Debra’s second ever field trail. We anticipate that with FLINT’s extreme desire and style blended with his prodigious talent will propel Debra to even greater levels of achievement in fieldwork.

At the Lassen RC field trial 2/11/08 Double wins in the Qualifying.
Debbie and Joker win 1st place and Debbie and Flint win a 4th place.
